So Charlize is really into saying "hi" right now. Anytime you walk into the room, the stranger at the store. I think I scared the young man at the grocery store the first time it happened. I got really excited! Other things we say "hi" to are her shaddow, reflexion in the mirror but my favorite was yesterday. We were getting her dressed in a long sleeve onesie. The wrist was tight and when her hand popped though, without missing a beat, "hi" to her own hand. Ahhhhh I love it!!!!
Okay, I need some feedback. We're hitting the road tomorrow. I'm realizing I have no idea what to do with a 1 year old. Brooke got her coloring and it had never crossed my mind. Any other ideas for fun things either in the truck or trailer? I just want some new activites I can do with her? Any favorite songs your kids liked to learn or games to play? Thanks
Today we spent most of the day cleaning dog hair out of the trailer. DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON MY DISTASTE OF THOSE CREATURES!!! ( I know God created them for a reason just like bugs and spiders) ug! Sorry to you Dog lovers out there. I love you I just can't join you. =) Anyway, the trailer is about half packed and hopefully tomorrow morning we will have the rest done and be on the road by noon. The trailer is very nice and spacious. I think it will be a great home for now and we're so thankful for it.

We always bring favorite toys, books, snacks, etc. As far as favorite songs...Old MacDonald, The Wheels on the Bus, If you're happy and you know it, I've got the Joy, Joy, Joy down in my heart. We've never been on a trip with the boys that is more than 6 hours. Hope that gives some ideas.
Hi! :) On the road with little ones - quite an adventure! Here are a few things that have helped us...
* coloring is always great as you mentioned - those magnetic coloring boards (they sell little mini travel ones that are great) work well too - they can be used over and over again and the pen part is tied on so they can't lose it. :)
* stickers - from my own experience, don't put stickered clothes through the wash;)
* special snacks/drinks - we like to do favorites or things we don't usually get to have. Even when trying to stay with healthy choices, throwing in a treat can buy some happy time. :)
* "I spy" - hunt for all the things you can see in every color you can think of :)
* We really love our Steve Green "Hide 'em In Your Heart" CDs (there are 2 volumes). Cute Scripture songs
* I would never had thought I would say this until I did road trips with kids....DVD players are wonderful!!! I always thought I wouldn't use one, but now I don't think I would leave home for very long without one. Those Steve Green CDs have DVDs that go with them, Baby Einstein types seem to grab their attention too.
* "Which hand is it in?" - simple but intriguing for the little ones. :) Hide a toy (or cracker, etc.) in one of your hands, and let her guess which hand it is in.
* toy cell phones
* Real cell phone calls to grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.
* Animal sounds - ask her to make different animals, you make a sound and she guesses what animal, sing old macdonald
* Peek - a -boo with a stuffed animal around the front car seat
* Paper towel tubes go a long way as megaphones and telescopes
* Plan to stop and let her walk/run...even a tiny bit of freedom helps :) - indoor playgrounds at this time of year are your friend. :)
Well, my kiddos beckon...hope some of these help!
I'm just going to go with the only one that works with my boys - the DVD player. Really, they aren't real happy doing anything for longer than 5 mins. except watching the tube and frankly it offers mom a little peace and quiet too.
